Logline: A troubled yet gifted young street dancer seeks redemption while winning the heart of a beautiful dancer, but will his violent past, personal demons and the chip on his shoulder derail him?

Thundering feet across a stage, thundering feet on gritty asphalt, collide to create a story that breaks all the barriers of dance films. A Breakin’ Uprising is a dazzling story of two unlikely lovers who find each other through very different worlds of dance. Set against the tough streets of Chicago and the glittering lights of the Chicago Theater, A Breakin’ Uprising is a coming of age story about the birth of a new kind of dance. Starr, a mixed Puerto Rican street dancer, and Astrel, a fresh-faced young traditional Irish dance diva, come together in a clash not only of dance styles but also of cultures. Each of the young dancers is faced with choices that will determine the course of their lives. Starr’s choices will either lift him out of a life of gang violence or doom him to prison and despair. Astrel’s choices will either break her free from the restraints of her traditional family and allow her to find happiness and success with the man she loves or trap her in a life she no longer wants.
